I believe this is an epidemic no one talks about.
And if you're wondering, yes, I'm speaking from personal experience.
We can all agree that depression is horrible. But you know what can be worse?
Being addicted to it.
Now you might think, "I can't believe this guy is saying people are willingly becoming addicted to depression.", but hear me out..
Let's take a simple example.
Have you ever met someone who is severely depressed over a minor issue for a long time?
You probably saw that person and thought, "Here's the solution."
But think about it. Do you really think no one ever told them the solution? Or that they don't know it themselves?
They do.
But here's my point, and it might be a controversial one:
It is easier to stay depressed than to take self-accountability and responsibility and change.
And yes, I'm speaking from personal experience from my past years.
It's WAY easier to just tell people your problems and hear them comforting you.
This has, of course, gotten worse in the modern world, where everyone has to be a victim and no one can be tough and tell the truth to one another.
We don't hold people accountable.
We don't tell the truth.
And this is one of the main problems.
Now, I do believe there are people who're more than qualified to be depressed.
I lost my 'special' person in June.
I lost one of my friends in August.
I lost my uncle in September.
And yes, I was depressed.
But do I believe that most 'depressed' people are just lazy and would rather drown in self-pity than to fix their own life?
Also yes.
I don't want to waste your time. You and I, we both understand what anxiety feels like – the sense of suffocation and suffering. So the last thing I want is to waste your time. Here are the two key insights that have helped me most with my anxiety: 1 - You're in Control It's important to understand that anxiety is not some demon out to hurt you. Quite the contrary, it's there to potentially save your life. The sense of urgency you feel when there's actual danger or when tasks need to be...
I began my journey as a Tech Helpdesk Agent two years ago. Recently, I transitioned into developer work. I levelled up. Naturally, with great power comes great responsibility (said by some old man in Spider-Man). Meetings, leading, planning… Consequently, I’ve been grappling a lot with anxiety. It’s entirely normal. After all, I’m human, and all these new experiences evoke such feelings. Determined to fix this, be an effective leader, and continue to elevate, I turned to the audiobook...
Self-education is the modern-day essential. Having been in the tech industry for roughly two years, I regard it as one of the most valuable lessons I’ve acquired. In today’s evolving world, with its technological advancements, the landscape is constantly changing. Given the rise of AI and automation tools, I’m convinced that those who invest in self-education are rarely, if ever, replaceable. Having recently graduated, I believe that the school system, particularly in tech, lags by at least...
