Navigating Anxiety: Understanding & Control

I don't want to waste your time.

You and I, we both understand what anxiety feels like – the sense of suffocation and suffering.

So the last thing I want is to waste your time.

Here are the two key insights that have helped me most with my anxiety:

1 - You're in Control

It's important to understand that anxiety is not some demon out to hurt you. Quite the contrary, it's there to potentially save your life. The sense of urgency you feel when there's actual danger or when tasks need to be completed stems from anxiety.

However, the issue arises when this fire alarm system is triggered without any real danger, leading you to overthink and obsess to the point of experiencing a full-blown panic attack.

Here's the thing, though: your anxiety is controlled by your nervous system, which acts subconsciously.

BUT,

What you can do is indirectly signal to your mind that you've assessed the situation and there's no danger.

How?

Identify the thought causing your anxiety. You need to actually notice and engage with it. It demands to be seen; otherwise, your anxiety intensifies it. Analyze the thought and think rationally – is there actual danger? If not, acknowledge this subconsciously and allow the thought to remain. So, do I do nothing? Yes! It might sound bizarre and challenging at first, but after analyzing the thought, all you need to do is let it exist without engaging or giving it attention. You'll notice it will eventually fade away.

2 - Realize That It's Going to Be Okay

Understand that you're going to be okay. Ask yourself, how long have you been dealing with anxiety? And it hasn't killed you. It's just a cloud in the sky, nothing more.

I hope this helps some of you.

Stay strong.

Being addicted to it. Now you might think, "I can't believe this guy is saying people are willingly becoming addicted to depression.", but hear me out.. Let's take a simple example. Have you ever met someone who is severely depressed over a minor issue for a long time? You probably saw that person...

I began my journey as a Tech Helpdesk Agent two years ago. Recently, I transitioned into developer work. I levelled up. Naturally, with great power comes great responsibility (said by some old man in Spider-Man). Meetings, leading, planning… Consequently, I’ve been grappling a lot with anxiety. It’s entirely normal. After all, I’m human, and all these new experiences evoke such feelings. Determined to fix this, be an effective leader, and continue to elevate, I turned to the audiobook...

Self-education is the modern-day essential. Having been in the tech industry for roughly two years, I regard it as one of the most valuable lessons I’ve acquired. In today’s evolving world, with its technological advancements, the landscape is constantly changing. Given the rise of AI and automation tools, I’m convinced that those who invest in self-education are rarely, if ever, replaceable. Having recently graduated, I believe that the school system, particularly in tech, lags by at least...
